Three meal plans, three room requirements
Choose the minimum setup that can complete the trip's hardest recurring food task.
Cook complete meals
FULL KITCHENUse this path for daily cooking, longer stays or meals that cannot depend on restaurants. Confirm a cooktop, refrigerator with usable food storage, sink and the cookware your recipe needs.
Do not assume an oven: a published full kitchen may still rely on a cooktop and microwave.
Prepare breakfast and simple food
VERIFY EACH COMPONENTA kitchenette may be a useful middle setup, but the label is not a specification. Ask whether it includes a cooktop or hot plate, sink, freezer space, dishes and somewhere practical to wash them.
Buy the appliance list, not the word.
Reheat meals and store snacks
MICROWAVE + FRIDGEThis can work for a short stay when food is prepared in advance. Verify that the refrigerator reaches food-safe temperatures and is not merely a beverage cooler.
It is not a cooking kitchen: no published stove, sink or cookware means the room should not be sold as one.
Illustrative scenario
The warm yogurt at 7:10 p.m.
Imagine a parent who packed meals because restaurant food is hard for one child. At check-in the “fridge” is a small beverage cooler, there is no sink for washing up, and “kitchenette” meant a microwave on a counter.
The family did not need a nice kitchen photo. They needed four jobs to work: keep food cold, heat it safely, wash up and repeat tomorrow. That is why the checklist below asks for the appliance list instead of the word.
Illustrative scenario: an invented example of a typical booking problem, not a report of a real stay.
The six-item kitchen check
A room passes only the jobs your family actually needs.
Refrigerator
Ask whether it is a food refrigerator, how large it is and whether it has freezer space. “Cooler” and “mini-fridge” may not solve the same job.
Cooktop and oven
Confirm burners separately from the microwave. An oven is another question and should never be assumed from full-kitchen wording.
Sink and cleanup
A dedicated sink changes whether repeated meal prep is practical. Allergy-sensitive families may also care about a dishwasher or how shared items are cleaned.
Cookware and policies
Ask whether pans, plates, utensils and detergent are in the room or requested at the desk. Do not bring a hot plate before checking hotel rules.
Exact rooms at each capability level
The cooking statement stays attached to the verified room or suite. A brand name alone does not carry it.

Follow your meal plan to the room
Each page below keeps the kitchen wording tied to the same room name used for beds and occupancy.

“Can we cook dinner every night?” is a better booking question than “Does it have a kitchenette?”
Quick answers
Does 'Full Kitchen' on an IHG room card guarantee a stove?
No. At Staybridge Anaheim At The Park the 1 Bedroom Suite card says Full Kitchen but the details list a microwave only; at Staybridge DC East Largo the details list only a refrigerator; at Staybridge Carlsbad they list no appliances. Ask for the appliance list.
Which room on this site names a stovetop?
Marriott's room card for the Residence Inn Washington One Bedroom 2 Queen suite (read October 16, 2026) lists a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, silverware, pots, pans and serving dishes. Clementine and The Bayard list a full kitchen on their own pages.
Is a microwave and refrigerator enough?
It can be for a short stay of prepared meals, as long as the refrigerator keeps food at safe temperatures and is not only a beverage cooler. It is not a cooking kitchen.
